Intravascular 3.0T MR Imaging: A feasibility Study in Swine
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a useful imaging tool for visualization of vessel walls and characterization of atherosclerotic lesions, providing high resolution and multiple imaging planes with no risk of radiation. The use of MR technology is, however, limited in imaging of deep-seated arteries, primarily due to insufficient signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) with a surface coil. To solve this problem, scientists have developed intravascular MRI techniques that place intravascular coils, such as a MR imaging-guidewire (MRIG), into deep-seated arteries to create high SNR images of target vessel walls/plaques. To date, most of the reported studies on intravascular MRI have been performed in 1.5T MR scanners. The aim of this study was to validate the feasibility of generating intravascular 3T MRI of deep-seated arteries of near-human-sized swine by using a 3T-MR compatible MRIG.

PURPOSE To investigate the feasibility of an intravascular imaging antenna to image abdominal aorta atherosclerotic plaque in swine using 3.0T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). METHODS Atherosclerotic model was established in 6 swine. After 8 months, swine underwent an MR examination, which was performed using an intravascular imaging guide-wire, and images of the common iliac artery and the ...

PURPOSE: MRI is becoming a useful imaging tool for the diagnosis and treatment atherosclerotic coronary arteries. To date, there are no reports on intracoronary MRI using a clinical 3.0T MRI scanner, which requires the placement of a small sized (usually 0.014-inch in diameter) endovascular MR coil into the coronary arteries. In this study, we attempted to confirm, ex vivo, the possibility of g...

PURPOSE To test the feasibility of performing magnetic resonance (MR)-guided trans-septal punctures in the swine heart. MATERIALS AND METHODS All procedures were performed in a 1.5-T MR scanner. A novel, active MR intravascular needle system was utilized for needle tracking and septal punctures. Trans-septal punctures were performed in five swine using electrocardiogram (ECG)-gated high resol...
